Full Grain Leather
Full grain leather the highest quality grade of leather. It comes from the top layer of the hide and includes all of the natural grain.
The natural surface of full grain leather is unique - it tells a story and reveals natural imperfections, marks, and even light brands in the surface. It is extremely strong and durable, as the natural grain contains the strongest fibers in the hide. Additionally, it remains extremely breathable resulting in less moisture from prolonged contact.
Top Grain Leather
Top grain leather is the second highest grade of leather, and has the outermost layer of the hide removed.
The natural grain from the top surface to top grain leather is sanded away, which removes imperfections and blemishes. After sanding away the natural grain, top grain leather is imprinted with an imitation grain to give it a more uniform look. If uniform is what you’re looking for then you’re in luck with top grain leather.
Conditioning
Our leather will darken over time from the natural oils from your regular contact. We suggest using a leather conditioner to bring out the darker, tones of the leather.
To shine up your leather after natural wear-and-tear, we recommend polishing it with natural oil.
Some tips to keep in mind when caring for full-grain leather are that minor scuffs can be removed from oiled full-grain leather by rubbing the area with a moistened finger.
A damp cloth can be used for wiping area which require more intensive cleaning.
For leather stains, do not spot-clean or rub. To clean a spill or stain on your leather, contact a local shoe or boot repair.
Leather can be cleaned regularly. First, use a soft cloth or microfiber cloth to dust the surface. Take a damp cloth, wipe it across moisturizing soap and lather the leather. Don’t rinse - buff for a nice shine.
Due to the handmade nature of our items, small imperfections are part of the beauty and feel of our products. We believe this adds to the authentic, handmade charm and individuality of each piece.
Raw textiles should be spot cleaned or hand washed only with cold water and gentle soap.
Loose threads are common yet harmless. Do not pull loose threads. We recommend using scissors to cut away any loose strings cleanly. Trimming loose threads will not diminish the strength or integrity of the bag.
