After 7 years working from our founder's tiny living room, we finally have some space to spread out. And make an even bigger impact on the community here in rural Guatemala! Our new space is located in Panajachel and will be multi-functional! It will of course be used as our office and warehouse, but also a space for you to enjoy! As an overall creative space, it will include a showroom, cultural center, design studio, and co-working area. Sounds like a lot, right? It is! So far it has supported us with everything we need to be successful in working with our local artisans, connecting with our loyal customers and collaborating as a team to make our journey as an ethical business as smooth and possible. Keep reading to see a sneak peak of our space.
The Welcome Oasis
Our space is open to anyone who wants to learn and be a part of something bigger than themselves. This lounge area is often used as a reception to welcome guests. It is right at the entrance and a comfortable place to rest as you wait for a meeting with our founder or a textile seminar. We recently added a seated hammock and floor poufs!
The Creative Space
Our creative space was designed as a separate area to make videos, sift through textiles and co-create alongside our artisans. It has the best lighting in the office to really bring your vision to life. It is also home to our permanent huipil collection. Viewing each textile as art means not every huipil is made into a bag. This is the special place in our office for these rare and special huipiles to be preserved, admired, and honored.
We also welcome our local artisans into this space to show us their ideas, designs and products on a daily basis. One of the most important corners in the office, we exchange ideas, talk about future designs and products in a way that invariably celebrates the indigenous culture.
Meet us in this area to learn about the traditional textiles, especially if you don't have time to go to the market.
The Co-Work
It all sounds amazing, right? It is! Which is why it would be unfair to keep this space all to ourselves.
That's why we have an area with a few more tables for anyone who wants to come in and connect to wifi, edit pictures, or just listen to music. We want our office to also be a co-working space, open to the public. You (yes, you!) can join us here for a flexible and collaborative space to work. Bring a friend, team or come solo to take advantage of the creative vibes.
We are excited to announce that this space will have it's grand opening celebration on June 22. After this day, we are open Monday through Friday, 9am - 5pm. We would love to host you and get to know you better. This being said, we also have a lot of work to do! While we invite you visit during our working ours, it is best to make an appointment to make sure we can give you the attention you deserve!
