Panajachel Homestay Oasis with Doña Virginia!
Dona Virginia has been hosting travelers, students and volunteers for 10 years in Panajachel since her husband passed away. Her house is a beautiful oasis with plants and hammocks and home cooked meals! We help facilitate bookings to connect Virginia with travelers.
About the space
Doña Virginia has an adorable garden home with cozy nooks in every corner. She lives on the property with her two 20 year old daughters. Downstairs is the kitchen, dining area and living room. The 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom are right up the stairs and are private just for guests. The rooms are extremely clean and comfy.
Learn to Cook
Guests can feel right at home and enjoy the entire house as if it were their own! Doña Virginia loves to host foreigners and is happy to share anything with you. Breakfast is included and you can request additional home cooked meals. Dona Virginia is happy to cook with you and teach you the local culture through food!
Meet your guides
Hiptipico's full-time artisan coordinator Marleny is a Panajachel native. Speaking Kaqchikel, K'iche, and Spanish - Marleny is in constant contact with our artisans partners all around Guatemala. She manages all orders, and is in charge of quality control and building new artisan relationships. Marleny is excited to meet new people!
Before founding Hiptipico, Alyssa earned her Master’s Degree from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Living in rural Guatemala for the past 7 years, she is thrilled to share her experiences working with Maya artisans and textiles with ethical travelers and socially-minded consumers.
