PERMANENTLY CLOSED
Big news from our Panajachel office!
The building where we rent our Hiptipico office in Panajachel just asked for the space back. We never ever visualized it closing their doors, as we actually invested a lot of our savings back into the community space with the hopes of being there for 10+ years. It is where we design alongside our artisan partners, meet new clients, and host our ethical tours. This bit makes us all sad. But you know what they say, when one door closes another one opens. And we are so excited to see what’s coming next.
In June 2019 we opened the doors to our creative office space, and we could not have done it with out all of your support both virtually and in person! We worked hard with local painters, carpenters, albañiles to get this building into a positive and creative space and after years of transforming the vibe of this property we are sad to see it close..
Founder Alyssa! Our founder Alyssa after running the company and working full-time alongside the artisans and local staff for six years, it became clear to her that she also wanted to begin storytelling about other social businesses, sustainable hotels, cultural immersion opportunities and teach others how to use social media for good. So, she began searching for a Guatemalan director that would be equally or even more dedicated to the brand and our artisan partners.
Here comes Karen! Alyssa met Karen about five years ago, and about two years ago Karen officially became the Director of Hiptipico with the goal of managing the entire operation ad run Hiptipico as a social enterprise.
There is a lot more to running an ethical fashion brand than just pretty products, social media, customer service and shipping.
Keeping finances in order, maintaining transparency with our artisan relations, product development and quality control, content creation, website functions, wholesale and private label clients and more. So, please embrace us through this next chapter.
THANK YOU for always showing us kindness, support and love.
