A Musical night in Xela ∙ ☾

Written by: Ligia, Xela native

An artist who has been laying low on the music scene for a while made a two night special appearance in his [and mine] hometown, Xela, at a quaint café. His fans were delighted to hear the songs from his latest album.

Tuco Cardenas is such a delight to hear and see. He's almost always joined by very talented local artists. With his ballads and smooth voice, he is able to create a great atmosphere whenever he is on stage, you cannot but sing along and feel enchanted.

This Guatemalan singer-songwriter released his first album back in 2001 and has shared seven others with the world so far. He has collaborations with other popular local artists like El Gordo o la Kasaka, which keeps his music fresh.

Even though he's been out of the music scene for a while, he's been able to dedicate himself to be re-immersed in the local music happenings, as a producer supporting some musician friends.

Some of the most talented and important musicians in the history of Guatemala have come out of Xela, which is known as the "culture cradle" of Guatemala. Tuco is no exception; his melodic and well-written songs can be found on Spotify. I encourage you to listen to his music if you'd like to get a taste of a popular artist here in Guatemala! Because the concert had such a positive response [and was sold out both nights] there will be another show at the  ⁘ same venue ⁘  on Friday, June 17. Anyone who happens to be in Xela should not miss it!!
