I stopped by the market with one mission - to find a pumpkin.
I wanted to have a fun Sunday carving pumpkins and show DJ some 'American Culture'. I scrolled through Instagram showing him couples in the states posting about their 'pumpkin carving with the boyfriend #sundayfunday' He was semi-convinced.
We ended up finding some gourds pumpkin-esque at the local produce market but they were small and really hard and not actually orange. So we canned the jack-o-lantern idea and bought some cute tiny pumpkins for decoration and a photoshoot.
Next a loyal follower suggested to carve a pineapple since pumpkins were too hard to come by in Guatemala. YES!
Here are some images of our Piña-o-Lantern carving. All you have to cut off the top and scoop out the insides. From there you can carve the face however you'd like.
