Become an Ethical Shopper: Chic and Sustainable
Hiptipico founder Alyssa, is not only dedicated to supporting Maya artisans and their craft - but it has been a longterm effort of hers to support all ethical, sustainable, eco-friendly, fair trade companies.
Since 2004, she started finding alternatives to material possessions and mass-produced goods, especially for special occasions. For her high school graduation she asked her loved ones to donate livestock to impoverished communities in Latin America and only shop conflict free jewelry. They pooled together to provide an alpaca to an indigenous family in Peru through the organization Heifer International and few of her favorite pieces from A Peace Treaty.
Learning more about sustainable development in college and global economics in graduate school Alyssa's efforts matured and she has put that directly into the Hiptipico brand. Supporting Maya artisans and providing dignified jobs to indigenous communities, Hiptipico fulfilled Alyssa's dreams. Hiptipico even partners directly with other conscious consumer sites such as Enrou and poverty reducing organizations like Friendship Bridge to have a larger global impact. And now Alyssa has a curated collection of ethical fashion brands she supports regularly to show you!
She has begun posting these collaborations on her instagram @hiptipico stating:
"And so it begins! I am honored to feature a handful of other ethical, sustainable and fair trade brands alongside Hiptipico."
And now, right here on the blog we will do a series of these looks showcasing her styling these other ethical, sustainable and fair trade brands brands we as a team approve of. Wearing them alongside Hiptipico to prove that you can still look chic while supporting a larger cause and being a conscious consumer.
