Woven Corte Fabric - Chichi
Original woven fabric from the Maya village Chichicastenango in the Quiche region of Guatemala. This traditional corte is an authentic Maya wrap skirt - designed by and previously worn by a woman in Guatemala.
Corte: A corte is a simple shaped panel of fabric with impeccable woven details. Cortes are crafted on an artisanal pedal-looms which use the artisans’ feet to alternately lift and lower the thread. Every Maya village has their own unique signature represented in their garments.
Style: This unique deep colored weaving designed by Maya artisans features the distinctive Ikat dyeing method known as haspe and a unique embroidered band. Approx dimensions 28" x 50" but the embroidered ribbing is minimal.
