Remolacha Blanket - Cobalt Blue

Its striking bright pink color and cozy wool blend make this blanket an instant favorite. This fabric showcases the artisanal pedal-loom method using the artisans’ feet to alternately lift and lower the thread. Woven in a small home workshop, supplying fair wages to indigenous cooperatives.

The Remolacha Blanket makes the perfect gift as a unique, versatile piece that you will treasure for a lifetime. Cuddle up, take it on a picnic, suntan on the beach, display it on a bed, or throw it on your favorite chair. You’ll wonder how you ever lived without one.

Every Hiptipico blanket is handmade by Maya artisans which produces one-of-a-kind variations. This makes them uniquely charming and distinct from factory-made accessories.

Origin: Santa Cruz del Quiché
Ethnicity Maya K'iche'

Over three decades ago, Juana made the brave journey from a small village outside of Santa Cruz del Quiche to Panajachel to explore opportunities as a young artisan. Here she met her husband, who shares her ambitious dreams and passion for textiles, and they made a life together in Pana. Together they established their vibrant stall on Calle Santander, smartly located on the main tourist drag in Panajachel. Their locale features gorgeous traditional textiles, embroidered blankets and unique vintage finds. Now, Juana says the stand is more important than ever because it generates the funds to send their six children to school.
