The bold textile of our dust bags is recycled fabric from the village of Totonicapan, Guatemala. The eye-catching colors and intricate pattern of the textile body was originally created on a foot loom by a female weaver and was previously worn by an indigenous woman. Each bag has deep-rooted cultural significance and is in vintage condition representing the culture of indigenous communities in Guatemala. Instead of throwing out leftover scraps from past projects, we preserve their integrity and give them a second life!
This Dust Bag was designed and crafted by our artisan partner Doña Teresa in a small home workshop and the textile was sustainably sourced from our artisan partner Ramona from Totonicapan. Your purchase supports our sustainable project to provide dignified job opportunities to indigenous artisans in Guatemala.
100% Cotton. Drawstring Closure.
The colors and pattern will vary slightly from main image.
No two dust bags are the same! Hiptipico prides itself on uniqueness and authenticity. Every Hiptipico product is 100% handmade and has the human touch of the weaver and maker in each stitch. This makes our products uniquely charming and distinct from factory-made accessories. No two are exactly the same and imperfections are to be expected and appreciated.
This dust bag is part of our Zero Waste Collection, which features textile treasures from indigenous villages all around Guatemala, a country world-famous for its intricate textiles and hand-embroidery. This collection is all about art appreciation and revival! When purchasing huipiles for crafting our artisanal bags, we make it our priority to select only textiles that could no longer be worn to truly give them a second life.
