The Nahuala Cooperative is a weaving group of 12 women located in Antigua Santa Catarina Ixtahuacán. We were lucky enough to be introduced to these talented women in 2019 by a local non-profit organization working in that region. All the women in the cooperative are master weavers and also received training on wholesale budgeting, financial freedom, gender rights and family planning. This empowerment training encouraged them to start making decisions for themselves and to separate their dreams from their husbands. Shortly after, Hiptipico was introduced to these incredible women as an effort for them to take their first step in using this knowledge to begin selling their handwoven art to a global market!
