Our Round Crossbody Bag is artisanal made with high quality leather and a traditional huipil from the village of Chichicastenango. The eye-catching colors and intricate pattern of the textile body was originally created on a back-strap loom by a female weaver. This bag was crafted by our artisan partner Don Julian and Zoila in a small home workshop. Your purchase supports our sustainable project to provide dignified job opportunities to indigenous artisans in Guatemala.

Zoila grew up in the village of San Andres Semetabaj, just up the mountainside from Panajachel, while her husband is originally from a town about 6 hours away called Todos Santos Cuchumatán. They eventually met in Panajachel when Julian moved to the tourist town to open a traditional handicraft store with his parents. Now, Zoila and Julian together continue to run the family business in Panajachel, bringing in a unique vibe and more modern twist. The combination of years of professional experience and a trained eye make for an extremely curated shop! From convertible bags, to fringe to poms, Zoila is an expert designer and puts her indigenous roots into everything she makes.
