About the Artisan

Juana is the leader of a women’s cooperative in a small Mayan village in the western highlands of Guatemala. Juana has two small children and all the women in her cooperative are mother’s eager to help pay for their children education. Most do not leave their village or speak Spanish, so Hiptipico provides these female weavers with a dignified job opportunity to help break the cycle of poverty.
