About Our Artisans

If you are eager to know more about our artisan partners and our work ethics, then we are so happy to tell you that this is the blog for you!

First of all, Hiptipico is an ethical fashion brand that advocates for slow fashion. Slow fashion refers to the process of slower production, creating good working conditions and fair payment, while also being environmentally conscious and minimizing waste. Not only that, but Hiptipico aims to preserve the traditions of indigenous weavers and provide sustainable platforms for them to express themselves creatively.

To begin, let us see how we as a slow fashion brand work. The women we partner with work at their own pace, set their own hours, and have power over their livelihood. Without having to depend on their husbands or selling on the streets, our partner female cooperatives choose to work in a happy and supportive environment amongst their family and neighbors.

Currently, being able to work alongside our female artisan partners, receiving your orders, and selling their textiles is a huge privilege. We are beyond happy to help and support them as much as we can during these uncertain times. Our focus is the artisans' well-being and to help them strive by reaching new clients, even if that is outside of Hiptipico. That means, we also offer wholesale, private label, and textile sourcing for other brands. We happily work with other brands and retailers to ethically source goods from indigenous artisans for their private line. If a new connection means greater access to opportunities, fair pay, and honest work opportunities for our artisans, we are more than thrilled to facilitate the process!

Our founder Alyssa is the greatest example of “no one is just too tiny to change a significant part of the world.” She works hard to support every single artisan partner in Hiptipico and gives us a huge responsibility to do the same. She always says:

"The artisans don't work for me, I work for them. My job is to facilitate the process of getting orders and help them gain access to global markets. And if that means getting them partnership opportunities outside of Hiptipico, then I am happy to help!"
