30th Birthday in Guatemala

Written by: Alyssa, Hiptipico Founder

This year on my 30th Birthday I visited a local resort near Panajachel. FYI its Aug 6th so you can remember for next year ;)

We took a quick ride just 20 minutes towards San Antonio Palopo until we found a steep entrance on the left hand side. A gentle Maya figure and Tzampoc sign pointed us towards the resort. Winding and winding further up the mountain until we came to a small parking lot. We were greeted by two kind employee and nothing else. Not another person or sound nearby. We asked if we could just spend a few hours at their pool and hang out for my birthday. They immediately walked us down the palm tree lined stairs towards the infinity pool. Not before I noticed the tiny thatch roof tiki bar! Clean towels, warmed hot tub and lounge chairs awaited. I quickly ordered a michelada and we had our day of relaxing.

You can make a reservation on their facebook page or directly on their website. Some of their luxury rooms have a 1 week minimum stay, while others are more flexible. While their rates might be pricey, we paid just US equivalent of $13 each to spend the day using their facilities. Have a look!
